John LeCuyer

John LeCuyer is a 21-year career veteran of the fire service and a nationally certified fire officer. He holds an associate's degree in Fire Science, a bachelor's degree in Design, and a master's degree in Kinesiology. He has been a member of the National Fire Protection Association's Fire Service Occupational Safety technical committee (i.e., NFPA 1500) since 1992, and a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) for 21 years.

LeCuyer is a professional member of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), and the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology (CSEP). LeCuyer is a published author on a variety of topics, including ergonomics, work-injury management, fitness/performance testing, and other health and safety issues.

 

He is most active in conducting research, both independently and in cooperation with local universities and health-service professionals. His research projects have included investigations in the areas of work physiology; ergonomics; physical and occupational therapy; test development and validation; environmental monitoring; and training and education programs. He has personally evaluated over 2,000 firefighters since 1985. As a consultant, his extensive research background and work experience have been shared with public safety agencies, both nationwide and abroad.
