Sean Gray

Captain Sean Gray began his fire service career in 1993 and currently serves with Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services in the Metro Atlanta area. Over the course of more than three decades in the fire service, he has been an active contributor to multiple technical panels focused on fire safety research and serves as an appointed member of the UL Research Institutes’ Fire Safety Research Institute (FSRI) Advisory Board. Sean is coauthor of The Evolving Fireground published by Fire Engineering Books and is recognized nationally for his leadership in advancing evidence-based firefighting tactics. In addition to his fire service career, he consults as a subject matter expert in emerging technologies, leveraging his direct involvement with cutting-edge fire safety research to help organizations integrate science-based strategies into operational practice. 

P.J. Norwood

P.J. Norwood serves as the director of training for the Connecticut Fire Academy, where he leads statewide efforts to deliver high-quality, research-based fire service education. A retired deputy chief from the East Haven (CT) Fire Department, P.J. continues to serve his community as a fire commissioner, appointed in February 2025. His career also includes service in the Connecticut Army National Guard, reflecting a lifelong commitment to public service and leadership. 
P.J. is a nationally recognized instructor and fire service leader. He is an FDIC instructor, a member of the Fire Engineering editorial board, and an accomplished author and video producer for Fire Engineering Books, whose works include The Evolving Fireground: Research-Based Tactics and the Tactical Perspectives series. His work bridges operational experience with modern fire dynamics, helping firefighters apply science-driven tactics on the fireground.
